Coronet Peak Queenstown’s Coronet Peak is the South Island’s most popular ski area – and with good reason. Diverse terrain, fantastic views, proximity to Queenstown and a cosmopolitan ambience create a superb winter experience for every level of snow sport enthusiast. This year, skiers and riders will welcome the brand new Greengates Express – a 1330-metre, six-seater, high speed detachable express chair capable of delivering riders to the top of the mountain in just four and a half minutes. A dedicated beginners and novice area and a vibrant freestyle scene centred around two halfpipes and a dedicated terrain park completes the mix. Access is a short 25-minute (18km) drive from Queenstown along a fully sealed road. Opens approx 05 June 2010

The Remarkables The Remarkables Ski Area enjoys soft, cold and dry snow for most of a season. Since opening in 1985 it has become known for its alpine environment, relaxed atmosphere and sense of fun. Young, hip snowboarders, freeskiers and families flock to the mountain’s varied trails, backcountry chutes and vast terrain parks. Covering 220 skiable hectares over 700 hectares of alpine reserve, The Remarkables’ three north-facing sunny bowls are sheltered by soaring peaks. The newly extended X-Box terrain and rail park and the Parklife Superpipe are extremely popular with young and not so young freestylers. A separate dedicated beginner park is full of features designed for children and terrain park beginners. The Remarkables Ski Area is a 45-minute drive (26 km) drive from Queenstown. Ski shuttles offer a daily service to and from the town. Opens approx 19 June 2010
