Lebanon & Israel Update - 24 July 2006

Lebanon
Further to our travel advice dated Friday 14th July please note that due to the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) upgrading their travel advice to 'Extreme Risk' there is no Cover available under any sections of the Mike Henry Travel Insurance policies for any travel into Lebanon.

Please refer to the following exclusion, applicable on all Mike Henry Travel Insurance policies: War - a) This insurance does not apply to any Loss arising out of War, civil war, invasion, insurrection, revolution, use of military power or usurpation of government or military power.

This means that for all policies, regardless of whether they have been issued prior to, or following the 14th July, there is no cover for any incidents with relation to the situation in Lebanon. For any travellers who choose to travel within Lebanon for there is no cover under any section of the policy.

Israel
Currently MFAT are advising 'some risk' in relation to general travel within Israel with the exception of the following areas regarded as an ‘Extreme Risk’:

  • Occupied Palestinian Territories
  • Gaza and the West Bank
  • Area bordering Lebanon

There is no cover for any travel into these ‘Extreme Risk’ areas. For all other travel within Israel there is full cover subject to the standard terms of the policy purchased.

We will continue to monitor the above situations closely and will notify you of any changes as they occur. All Mike Henry Travel Insurance policies do not provide any cover for travel into areas classified as an 'extreme risk' by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).
