DAY 1: CAPE TOWN
The "Mother City" lies in a spectacular setting between Table Mountain and Table Bay. The day is spent at leisure. Feel free to explore the bustling Waterfront. We meet our guide at the reception of the hotel for a briefing at +-18h00 (Dinner own arrangements). Breakwater Lodge (or similar). (Accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis)
DAY 2: CAPE TOWN - TABLE MOUNTAIN, CAPE OF GOOD HOPE - NAMAQUALAND
The day is spent exploring the city and Cape Peninsula. A cable car adcent up Table Mountain (weather permitting) and a scenic drive to the Cape Point are included. In the early afternoon we take the road to the west coast to Namaqualand and install our camp (breakfast and dinner).
DAY 3: ORANGE RIVER
Our campsite is situated on the banks of the Orange River, on the border between South Africa and Namibia. Here you have the option of a canoe excursion on the Orange River (optional extra). (All meals)
DAY 4: FISH RIVER CANYON
The Canyon is one of the most staggering sights in Africa (second in size to the Grand Canyon of America). We set up camp near the Canyon and explore the area in the late afternoon and early morning when the colours and shadows of the Canyon are at its best. (All meals)
DAY 5/6: SESRIEM/ SOSSUSVLEI - NAMIB DESERT
Our journey takes us through ever changing scenery to our camp on the edge of the Namib Desert. We enjoy sunset in the dunes surrounding our camp. The following morning is an early departure for Sossusvlei, stopping in the dunes to enjoy the chaning colours of the world's highest sand dunes. We undertake a 5km walk to Sossusvlei. In the afternoon we enjoy a short hike through the canyon. (All meals)
DAY 7: MOON VALLEY/WELWITSCHIA AREA
Heading north we reach the coast where thousands of flamingoes spend their time feeding. Driving via the moon landscape we stop to view the unusual pre-historic Welwitschia plant, a dwarf tree flourishing on the moisture of the Atlantic Coast. Its lifespan is estimated at more than 1.000 years. Our camp in the desert under the bright stars of the southern hemisphere will create a lasting impression. (All meals)
DAY 8: SWAKOPMUND
We arrive in Swakopmund early to explore the town at leisure. Numerous optional excursions are available including sandboarding, quad biking, skydiving, kayaking or scenic flights over the vast Namib Desert (own expense). Dinner is enjoyed at a local restaurant (own expense). Swakopmund bungalows (or similar). (Accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis).
DAY 9: CAPE CROSS SEAL COLONY – TWYFELFONTEIN/ DAMARALAND
Driving along the coast we visit the large colony of Cape fur seals (about 50 000)at Cape Cross. Twyfelfontein "Fountain of Doubt" possibly has the most spectacular collection of rock paintings and engravings in Africa. Other attractions include the Petrified Forest which has a large number of fossilised tree trunks, the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes. (All meals)
DAY 10/11/12: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
This Park is one of the most important game sanctuaries in Africa, with thousands of wild animals such as blue wildebeast, springbok, zebra, kudu, giraffe, cheetah, leopard, lion and elephant making this area their home. Floodlit waterholes at Okaukuejo & Namutoni campsites attract a multitude of animals throughout the evening, providing us with many amazing wildlife sightings. We enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives. (All meals).
DAY 13: POPA FALLS – CAPRIVI
The Caprivi is a pan-handle that reaches into central Africa from the north-eastern corner of Namibia. It shares borders with Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Camp on the banks of the Okavango River. (All meals).
DAY 14: MAUN
Travelling the pan-handle we arrive at the “gateway” to the Okavango Delta and Moremi Wildlife Reserve - Maun. Evenings spent relaxing round the campfire, preparing for our 4x4 trip into Moremi the following morning. (All meals).
DAY 15/16: MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE (OKAVANGO DELTA)
Moremi is a beautiful wilderness, with rich vegetation, palm trees, teeming with birdlife and a vast population of wild animals. We enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives exploring the reserve in our open 4x4 safari vehicle. (All meals).
DAY 17: MAUN
An early morning game drive is enjoyed as we leave Moremi, returning to Maun in time for lunch and an optional scenic flight (own expense)over the Okavango Delta. (All meals).
