DAY 1: JOHANNESBURG - KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
We depart at 06h30 from our hotel in Johannesburg, driving through Mpumalanga Province to the southern area of Kruger National Park. After setting up camp,a late afternoon game drive is enjoyed.(All meals).

DAY 2: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
The largest game reserve in South Africa stretches north to south over approximately 500km and is home to the Big Five, as well as numerous other species of fauna and flora. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are undertaken in search of the numerous animals inhabiting the Park. Optional night drive (own expense). (All meals).

DAY 3: SWAZILAND
Mlilwane Game Reserve is one of the Royal Reserves, part of the kingdom’s commitment to wildlife preservation. Optional excursions include a guided walk, mountain biking and horse trails in the Park. (All meals).

DAY 4/5: ZULULAND
From our base in Zululand, rich in both cultural history and wildlife, we undertake a game drive in Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Game Reserve, famous for its contributions to saving the endangered rhino. A cultural visit to a local village is included. (All meals).

DAY 6/7: DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS (World Heritage site)
The central Drakensberg’s main feature is the Giant’s Castle Reserve, the largest national park in the area. Established in 1903, the highest tooth of the Drakensberg in this region is the 3409m Injasuti Dome. A day is spent enjoying the many walking trails or simply relaxing surrounded by stunning scenery. (All meals).

DAY 8/9: WILD COAST - TRANSKEI
The Transkei, birthplace of former president Nelson Mandela, is well known for its stunning coastline, with superb surfing beaches and lush subtropical vegetation. Camp is set up at Port St Johns situated at the mouth of the Umzimvubu River, with dramatic cliffs, unspoilt beaches and a relaxed atmosphere. A full day is available for relaxing on the beach, scenic walks, horse riding or canoeing. (All meals).

DAY 10: ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK
Found in the Sundays River Valley near the Zuurberg Range the park is home to large herds of elephant, lion and numerous antelope species. We enjoy a game drive and observe the animals interacting at the floodlit waterhole. (All meals).

DAY 11/12: THE GARDEN ROUTE
Our camp is installed for 2 nights at Plettenberg Bay, from where we explore the Garden Route, an area of lush vegetation and abundant waterways bordering the coastal strip between the forests of the Tsitsikamma and the winelands of the Western Cape. Many optional activities are available in this area, including bungi jumping, scenic walks and kayaking (own expense) or relax on the beaches. (All meals).

DAY 13: OUDTSHOORN
Travelling along the Garden Route we visit an Ostrich Farm in Oudtshoorn and explore the Cango Caves on a guided tour. (All meals).

DAY 14: WESTERN CAPE AND WINELANDS
Our journey takes us through a picturesque fruit and wine growing valley known as the longest wine route in the world, “Route 62”. We visit a wine farm for wine tasting, arriving at our Guest Farm accommodation on the Robertson/Worcester wine route. (Accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis only).

DAY 15/16/17: CAPE TOWN
Set against its majestic Table Mountain, Cape Town offers historic and cultural attractions.We explore the city and Cape Peninsula from our well-situated Waterfront hotel. A cable car ascent up Table Mountain (weather permitting) and a scenic drive to Cape Point are included. Breakwater Lodge (or similar). (Accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis only). The tour ends after breakfast on day 17.

The itinerary will depend on local conditions.

In addition to the above 17 day tour, clients have the option to upgrade to accommodation or the choice of 2 shorter itineraries (see below).

Upgrade to chalet style accommodation (South African Adventure)
Clients wishing to undertake the tour on an accommodated basis rather than camping, may upgrade to basic, chalet style accommodation subject to availability (supplement applicable). Meals will be taken in the campsite with the rest of the group.

12 day Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth (South African Adventure)
It is possible to shorten the South African Adventure to a 12 day itinerary from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth. Ideal for those who have previously visited the Cape or who are looking for a shorter tour.

OPTION 3
7 day Port Elizabeth to Cape Town (South African Adventure)
It is possible to shorten the South African Adventure to a 7 day Garden Route tour from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town.
