| OVERVIEW |
|
Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of life: a sophisticated fusion of East and West; a city of diversity where new and old meet at every turn. From your first sight of Hong Kong - the ultra-modern airport and your journey over the world’s longest suspension bridge into Hong Kong you will marvel at the contrasts that have made Hong Kong one of the world’s major attractions. Step on to any street and you’ll be swept away in a wave of commotion, smells and clamour. For a taste of what it’s like to live here, wander through the side streets of Tsimshatsui, ride the Central-mid levels escalator which snakes its way through some of the world’s most expensive real estate, ride the upper deck of the bus from Central to Stanley Markets or best of all take a triple decker Star Ferry from Kowloon on bustling Victoria Harbour. The shopping is legendary, the cuisine superb, the architecture stunning but these are only three facets that make Hong Kong one of the world’s truly great destinations. Hong Kong’s heritage is truly unique and this is reflected in the variety of Performing Arts, Museums and Galleries and Arts & Cultural Festivals. And then there’s the nightlife and Hong Kong is a late-night city. Once the financial and business districts close for the day other areas burst into life. There are British pubs, American bars and all-night dance clubs. Start in Lan Kwai Fong, the city’s premier entertainment centre then head for Soho packed with eateries and watering holes, then see the sun up in Wanchai. There’s no other holiday quite like Hong Kong! KOWLOON - (located on the northern side of Victoria Harbour) is a shoppers paradise, a city of markets selling everything from clothing, handbags, shoes, silk, souvenirs and factory overruns. The Ladies market and Temple Street Markets are open till late at night and are a must to visit. Famous Nathan Road is located in Kowloon offering a golden mile of blazing neon lights and an endless road of shops and restaurants. An array of local Cantonese restaurants can be found to tempt your pallet without hurting your wallet. HONG KONG ISLAND - Astonishing landscape and high rises are just the beginning of what you will find. Amazing shopping, huge choice of departments stores and malls, boutiques and night markets. Restaurants galore, and a nightlife that will leave you breathless. Visit Lan Kwai Fong for bars and restaurants and Hollywood road for antiques and open-air markets. |
