It was founded already by Phoenicians, and was of great importance in the Moorish epoch. Highly interesting historical remains are left as well in the town itself as in all the province. Add to that beautiful landscapes and picturesque villages, and perhaps you will know what for to come here...

MALAGA MUST SEE & SIGHTSEEING

MALAGA’S ALCAZABA
The Alcazaba was the palace-fortress of Malaga’s Muslim governors, with two rings of wall and many impressive defensive towers. As you walk through the Alcazaba with it’s stone paths and amazing arches, each turn you take you notice unique details and the fortress suddenly takes on a singular elegance. It is like taking a distant and exotic trip, while still being in the heart of Malaga.

CATHEDRAL
It is called the Cathedral of the Incarnation, built in 1528, in the gothic style above a former Muslim mosque. The people of Malaga nicknamed their Cathedral ‘La Manquita’ (the one-armed one), as one of the towers was never completed.

FORTRESS OF THE ‘GIBRALFARO’
This fortress located in the mountain of Gibralfaro dominates the city in a spectacular way, from there you can enjoy views of the harbour, the cathedral and the bullfighting ring.

THE CENTRAL MARKET
A visual spectacle of colours and movements, the smells and the showmanship of the vendors dealing with the buyers that takes place inside makes the Central Market a true culture experience.
