SPEIGHTS® BREWERY HERITAGE CENTRE
SPEIGHTS® has been a passionate part of the South for over 125 years. The Heritage Centre and Tour includes an introduction to the history of beer from Babylonian times through to the beginnings of the Speights Brewery in 1876 and to the current day. From here the tour encompasses the working brewery, giving you the chance to see, smell, touch and taste the ingredients that make Speights 'the Pride of the South'. There are also a number of entertaining and informative audio-visual and interactive displays. Tours wouldn't be complete with out the chance to taste the range of beers brewed by Speights. These are served at the private Heritage Bar, with each beer given a full description as you sample, it is at this stage in the tour where you will also have the opportunity to view a range of the much loved Speights TV commercials whilst you peruse the Speights Shop for souvenirs.

TAIERI GORGE RAILWAY
Taieri Gorge Railway is an award winning half day excursion from Dunedin into the Taieri River Gorge and return. This is one of the world's great train trips, taking you from the centre of Dunedin, through the rugged mountain interior of central Otago. Travel in the comfort of an award winning train service as you take in the spectacular contrasting scenery of the Taieri River Gorge. Cross magnificent stone wrought iron viaducts and gasp as the sheer drops to the river below. Plunge into a series of tunnels, you can disembark on the outward journey to take photos (weather and time permitting). An informative commentary is also given on the outward journey.

Larnach Castle was built in 1871 by politician and merchant baron, William Larnach for his wife Eliza. It took 200 workmen three years to build the shell and a further twelve years were spent by master craftsman to embellish the interior. Magnificent carved ceilings created by the very best European craftsmen, there is breathtaking views from the Tower. Inside you will see a superb collection of Victorian antiques, unique Neo-Gothic and colonial architecture, sculptured Oamaru stone Lions, Eagles and Griffins. On arrival at the Castle you are given an informative brochure of the history and features of the castle which guides you through at your own leisure. A map of the gardens and grounds is also available.
