OVERVIEW |
|
Welcome to Los Angeles, the "City of Angels", entertainment capital of the world. Hollywood glamour and excitement, an enormous variety of entertainment, cultural choices, great restaurants and beautiful beaches. The Los Angeles coastline stretches 122 kms from Malibu down to Long Beach, whilst inland the city is situated in a vast settlement bounded by the Santa Monica and San Gabriel Mountains. Downtown LA is 26kms inland from the coast and the city has a population in excess of 13 million. You can chose to stay in the city or a beachside suburb like Marina del Rey or Santa Monica. Wherever you choose you will never be far away from the sights - Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air: We recommend at least a week to explore this great city - there is something for everyone in LA.

WHERE TO STAY? |
| Anaheim / Buena Park - Located in Orange County the Anaheim/ Buena Park area is home to two of the great USA theme parks. The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and just a short distance away Knotts Theme Park in Buena Park. Both parks offer something for all age groups from personal encounters with Fantastical characters to thrilling Roller Coaster Rides. Buena Park also has the great attractions of Medieval Times themed restaurant and the Movieland Wax Museum and Ripleys Believe it or Not! The newly renovated Anaheim area offers fantastic value accommodation and plenty of entertainment and shopping.
Beverly Hills - Home to the smart boutiques of Rodeo Drive such as Chanel and Gucci, expensive cars cruise palm-lined boulevards. This is the place to shop in "style" and to do some "star spotting" - Beverly Hills is a must see. Surprisingly accommodation here is not as expensive as you might think! Especially if you can travel outside of the peak months of Jul & Aug, and just think what your friends will say when you tell them you are staying in Beverly Hills!
Hollywood - Hollywood Boulevard still offers a glimpse of the old L.A. Stroll past Mann's Chinese Theatre famous for its forecourt - the Walk of Fame. Hollywood is also home to the grand Hollywood and Highland complex located in the heart of "New Hollywood" it contains retail shops, multiplex theatres, restaurants, nightclubs and is home to the Kodak Theatre, the new home of the Academy Awards. Hollywood is a great place to stay if you want to be in the heart of LA. Still with easy access to Beverly Hills, Santa Monica but without the price tag!
Santa Monica - Santa Monica is a beautiful urban village by the sea, offering world class shopping, restaurants, museums and art galleries. With beautiful white sand beaches and the famous Venice beach just a few minutes away. It is hard to believe that this town is only 13kms from LA Airport and just a short drive from Universal Studios and the Getty Museum. Santa Monica is an ideal base especially if you only have a few days in LA. Marina Del Rey - Located in the heart of L.A.'s Westside, Marina del Rey is nestled on the waterfront between LAX and Santa Monica and within walking distance of Venice Beach. It is LA's only Yacht harbour and offers waterfront accommodation, dining and a selection of boating activities. At only 6 km from Los Angeles Airport, Marina Del Rey is the ideal stopover location. |
