OVERVIEW |
Bula! Welcome to Fiji!
Whether you're a first-time traveller or a regular visitor to this magical destination, the friendliness and smiles of its local people combined with the unique personality of each and every one of its resorts and hotels will always ensure your holiday is a memorable one. Literally on our back doorstep (3 hours flying time) Fiji is made up of 330 jewel-like islands of which about 100 are actually inhabited.
The largest island, Viti Levu accounts for 70% of Fiji's total population. Suva, the capital and chief port is located in its south-eastern corner, and Nadi, on its western side, is the site of the main international airport and the gateway to Fiji's beautiful and popular Mamanuca Islands, home to a number of idyllic resorts. Situated on pristine sandy white beaches, these island resorts are very popular with couples and families alike. Renowned for their friendly and relaxed atmosphere, safe swimming and snorkelling and their island style bure accommodation, these resorts offer plenty of privacy or opportunity to mix with other like-minded people
the choice is yours!
Only a 20 minute drive from Nadi Airport is Denarau Island, home to three 5-star Sheraton properties. Boasting an international golf course, tennis club and marina these properties offer a taste of luxury; be it for your entire stay or in combination with another resort
you won't be disappointed.
Mid-way between Nadi and Suva stretching for more than 100 kilometres is the Coral Coast, also popular with travellers, offering a range of delightful beachfront accommodation options. The Coral Coast highway (Queens Road) is sealed and passes through spectacular scenery featuring Fijian villages, sugar cane fields, coral lagoons and beaches. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, everything from bamboo rafting and kayaking to a Coral Coast railway tour.
Vanua Levu, Fiji's second largest island, retains its old world charm of trading days long past and is only an hours flight from Nadi and Suva
Most of the resorts in this region are small and intimate. And for divers, it is true paradise. Taveuni (third largest island) is appropriately named the "Garden Island" with its lush mountains, mist shrouded tropical rainforests, cool waterfalls and tropical birds. It is a deepsea fishing enthusiasts destination and a mecca for divers
and its unspoiled peace and easy way of life has huge appeal.
North-west of Viti Levu are the famous Yasawas. Renown for their crystal clear waters, sparkling white sands and abundant marine life, this more remote group of islands offer a number of upmarket resorts for those wishing for more luxury and privacy in their holiday
or try island hopping through these beautifully secluded islands aboard a Blue Lagoon Cruise or Captain Cook vessel.
Fiji offers its visitors a true South Sea's paradise - whether you are looking for a family vacation, a romantic getaway, a short break to fit into the demands of a busy working schedule, a diving or fishing experience or just want to get away from it all - Fiji has something for everyone
and the legendary Fijian friendliness will make you feel welcome, relaxed and ready to enjoy your tropical island getaway. CLICK HERE FOR THE MAP OF FIJI |

FIJI - THE ULTIMATE ROMANTIC HIDEAWAY...
Fiji is romantic and getting married in this honeymoon location is the most wonderful indulgence. You can frolic on a deserted beach and swim in crystal clear waters... Or be as active as you want. Fishing, diving, tennis, golf. It’s your choice!!! Whether you are planning a wedding or renewing your marriage vows, you will experience the Fijian’s warm welcome as they share their hospitality with you. Imagine your wedding ceremony on a raft, just out from your exclusive bure at a small intimate island resort, under the stars at an international resort, in front of a sparkling waterfall, a tropical forest setting, beside a tranquil pond ablaze with water lillies, a traditional wedding chapel or on a romantic island cruise... A conch shell is sounded and the drums beat. Accompanied by the beautiful voices of a small Fijian choir, you walk to meet your loved one and the scent from tropical flowers engulfs you, as you say your vows... Fiji is a place where dreams are made.
Preparing for your Fiji Islands “wedding experience“
- Prepare to arrive in Fiji, a couple of days prior to the wedding, so you can arrange your license. A marriage license can be obtained within one working day... (the license is valid for up to 21 days from the date of issue). Registry offices are in Nadi, Lautoka or Suva and are open between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday through Friday. (closed for lunch 1.00 pm - 2.00 pm). Registration formalities take about 20 minutes and the fee is F$22.50.
- For your Fijian wedding you will need: Original birth certificates, passports, decree absolute (divorce papers) if relevant, death certificate of former spouse if either of you are widow/widower and officially witnessed consent of your father or guardian if you are under 21 years. These documents (which can be photocopied) must be faxed or mailed to the Registry General’s office and must arrive at least 2 weeks prior to arranging a marriage license. The wedding couple then must present themselves together at the Registry office with all of the original documents when applying for their marriage license. Pre-arranged application cannot be made from New Zealand.
- Many resorts have their own wedding co-ordinators to take care of every detail from your arrival through to your wedding day and the honeymoon afterwards - you just relax. The minister can be booked prior to your arrival or a celebrant if you prefer.
- With optional extras to suit your budget, couples can choose to have everything from a simple ceremony to a complete island feast. They can arrange traditional Fijian wedding attire, or you may choose to be informal or formal as your wish... And the wedding feast, whether for 2 or 200 guests, will be a spectacular affair, as you relax and enjoy the romantic setting.
